Brief Synopsis: Set in Cumbria in 1998, Meat Raffle follows Rich, a closeted father convinced he’s somehow “turned” his son queer. Desperate to reclaim his idea of masculinity, he hatches a plan to rig the local pub’s Christmas turkey draw—an absurd bid to prove what being a “real man” means.

This BAFTA-qualifying, BFI-backed LGBTQ+ short is a darkly funny and delightfully strange slice of queer cinema, rooted in the unique character of Carlisle in England’s North West. Starring Michael Hodgson (Smoggie Queens, BBC Three) and Dominic Weatherill (Star Wars: Andor), Meat Raffle is now streaming on Channel 4 in the UK and was nominated for the Film4 Best British Short Film at the Iris Prize 2025.
