| Notes: | The Perfect Gift wasn’t just another supermarket Christmas ad. We rewrote the rules, creating a Christmas campaign that behaved more like a movie release, which people actively chose to watch, talk about and share. The four-minute festive romcom premiered in primetime, becoming the most-watched programme in its slot and even delaying the ITV News by five minutes. It then extended seamlessly across social, print, cinema and beyond, blurring the line between advertising and entertainment. In doing so, it repositioned Waitrose from a premium supermarket into a true food entertainment brand. Rather than focusing on the usual festive food tropes, we told an immortal love story, using cinematic storytelling and Hollywood casting to remind people that the most meaningful gifts are the ones made with love for the people we love. The result was a campaign that captured the nation’s attention, strengthened Waitrose’s cultural relevance and helped drive a 7% year-on-year increase in sales. It’s the kind of work that didn’t just win Christmas, it changed expectations of what a supermarket Christmas campaign could be. |
