Description:	Atelier Des Lumières in Paris is Europe’s Largest space for immersive art, and has pioneered the approach to displaying art in a digital medium. It is an internationally renowned digital museum and is now the second most popular tourist attraction in Paris. In October of last year they hosted the Immersive Art Festival, which was the first time modern work was displayed in the space. The competition chose from hundreds of studios to take part and those that made it were recognised as one of the foremost design studios developing content for immersive experience. This was an opportunity to test the limitations of how space can be transformed by content, challenging the audience’s perceptions and transporting them to other worlds. A geigeresque scenario was dreamt up, immersing the audience in a machine that transported them across the universe. The experience combined elements of horror and science fiction stretched across a canvas of over 246 million pixels. This led to the technical challenge of treating the entire space as a single screen. After a period of Research and Development, an innovitive animation pipeline was developed specifically designed for immersive content on this scale. This allowed the content to be developed for an experience with multiple focal points. These different view points changed an audience members experience depending on where they were in the room at any given time. This is one of the highlights of the immersive medium.
