Amid the global pandemic, a surge of scam artists targeted Canadian seniors, a vulnerable and easy prey. HomeEquity Bank, with a customer base composed entirely of retirees living on a fixed income, launched an online masterclass platform that taught seniors the very phone scams they were being targeted with. The teacher was Frank W. Abagnale – a.k.a. history’s most notorious conman and the real-life inspiration for the hit film Catch Me If You Can. And with over 1 million online views in a matter of weeks, Catch The Scam didn’t just resonate with Canadian retirees … they began to catch actual phone scams in real-time. |
